    Fake YHM Phantom Flash Hiders

I'm not sure if they are the real thing or not, but I have seen some supposed YHM Flash Hiders that look a bit funny. I've seen some that have the slots not aligned when you index them (I've seen some that are aligned and perfect) and others with different finishes...so my question is are there really "knock off" phantom flash hiders out there? If so than people are getting ripped off, since these knock offs cost about the same as for the real ones. Have any of you guys ran across these or am I just mistaken?

there are different types of phantom FH, and yes they do vary in color, so do the front flip up sight gas blocks. both of mine have a dark greenish finish, while the ones i saw at some las vegas gun stores were pitch black. When i asked the gun store worker about the color, he said that YHMs items vary in color all the time, and that it depends which batch they come out of.

The variance in colors is sometimes due to a higher concentration of certain metals or metal alloys in the metals used for the FH or for the other metal parts.

Those weird ones I have seen do not have any logo and have other discrepancies that makes me think these are not the real deal.

YHM has been putting their logos on their flash hiders as long as I can remember. Maybe they made some years ago without a logo?

I ordered a YHM Phantom many years ago from Bushmaster and it didn't have a YHM logo on it. I *think* it's genuine, though, or I certainly hope so. Perhaps YHM can confirm if they ever made some without their logs stamped on them. My newer Phantom's do have the logo on them.

Years ago, they were a shiney blued or black oxide finish and no logo.

Sometime ago on another forum the word started spreading about fake made in China knock-off Larue parts. Sure enough they had everything down to the Larue markings. Some parts were so close you almost could not tell from the real thing.

I wouldn't doubt if there are knock-off YHM parts floating around....Buyer beware.
