Personally I'm not a fan of the Matech BUIS. Maybe the one I had was defective, but the sight wouldn't stay folded. Just releasing the bolt would make it flip up. I have a fixed LMT rear sight on it now and it is rock solid.

For a flip-up rear sight I would have to say Troy is top tier stuff. DOA or M4 style would be a personal preference.

I like the Troy Battle Sight, m4 style with a traditional duel apature. I'm sure the apature mentioned above works great, but I use what I know.

It is low profile so most optics can mount over it. Should you ever decide to go with a scope in the future you won't need to remove your already sighted in backup sights. If you stick with a red dot, you are not hurt by having the lower profile sight in any way. It uses the A1 style shrouded push-in locking mechanism to prevent it from accidentally changing settings when you brush up against it which happens often with the traditional A2 sights. It has a duel apature so it is easy to use and effective for both CQB and longer range shooting. It is also relatively light weight. Add to that the fact that it is sexy looking and you have a real winner.

I really like the Arms 40L ( L = Low Profile) easy to fit under optics…

It’s a little pricy, but its real stout…

Any idea if the Matech will mount under an ACOG? I know I couldn't deploy it without taking off the ACOG, but I am thinking about a QD mount for the TA31, and this sight behind it, on the last rail...

The Arms looks great... might need to try one

I like the Troys and Matech. The zeroing process on the Matech is what is so cool. The Matech I had seemed to lock very sturdy into place and can also be bought on ebay for 30-40 bucks.

The other sight that interests me is a low pro DPMS. It looked like a cool design but I have no idea how it would hold up.

just zeroed my first ar. the troy m4 buis, from my little use, have served their purpose. now im not sure how the other manufacturers' buis are, but my one nitpick with the troy's is that upon flipping up the rears, the default is the large aperture sight. due to my shooting style (NTCH), i really prefer using the smaller aperture sights, and there is no way to set them as the default when flipping up. im sure there is a way, but i dont feel like disassembling my brand new buis, at least not just yet...

I use the Troy HK style front with that rear sight and it seems to be just fine. Line up the circle with the edges of the diamond and the round goes right where the top of the front sight post is, pretty fast and easy IMO.

My friend just bought a Troy Rear Tritium Di-Optic Apeture today at a LGS. We mounted it and found the small 300m-550m sight diamond is incorrectly offset. It isn't machined into the center of the metal sight. It's obviously cut to the left of center. The larger 0m-300m diamond is correctly centered. The sight will be returned tomorrow. This isn't what I would have expected from a $164 rear sight from Troy.

That's part of production. My irons were slapped on and not a single bit of adjustment has been done to them to zero accept the front sight has been sighted in for 22/5.56 shooting.

I've even hit a 10"x5" box at 300 yards first shot with those sights and again not a single turn of findable has been made.

But hey I can't blame you I'd be disappointed too. But again as I said its part of production. Almost impossible not to have one or 2 bad products slip out. Even ferarris which are hand built and seriously QCd have bad cars come out once and a blue moon.

Top is Troy, middle is Midwest Industries and the bottom is Magpul. Bottom two are being replaced by Troy's (m4 style).

I personally like the Midwest Industries SPLP models.

The triangular corners make it so much easier to line up the front sight. A lot easier to line up a post with line cement ions than a circle. The lines also help stand out when your focusing on your front sight they stand out enough to help ping up proper sight alignment..

I wouldn't think twice if I had to choose between these or any other sight.

Very well put. My all time fav BUIS too.
