I chrome plated my latest build. Black chrome, with Chrome accents, with metalic candy apple red furniture. Custom 7.62x39 bolt handle. smoothed out the bayonet lug on front sight. Im not sure where your located, but my chimer, who also does gold plating is in long beach, and they did a great job.

I would add some diamonds for texture on the grip!! Let the haters hate....if it isn't in FDE they feel that it isn't TACTICAL!! I remember back in the 80's/90's there was a plating kit that you could buy when everyone with a honda thought it was cool to have gold emblems.

It can cost less than a high quality polymer-based finish. You can't shoot it for the reasons other folks have mentioned, but as a fun show-piece it's cool as heck.
