    front sight gas block leakage?

I have been noticing this build up over time now and am getting curious/worried. it is shown there in the pictures, and also is black along the barrel underneath the handguards (under the red arrow in there is where its on the barrel coming from the gas block). it seems to be coming out of the front sight somewhere and builds up enough at one spot that i can scrape off the carbon. any idea? should i be worried? its a high standard upper that ive put about 5k rounds through, never with an issue. has been flawless and still is. just worried about this

I'd get it to a gunsmith that's familar with AR's. It certainly does look like gas is leaking from somewhere unless it discoloration from all that shooting your doing. Does your rifle short stroke?

I wouldn't be worried all my AR's do that I never questioned it probably because they are reliable and I have peace of mind because they are pinned gas blocks.

He's talking about the pin for the gas tube right above the barrel. Your gas tube is not clogged I honestly wouldn't worry about it. If your that concerned about it then you can always get a new FSP.

I have one that does that. It doesn't seem to effect the function, so I am not worrying about it.

All my ar's do tuis to some degree. I'm just letting my go. Maybe enough carbon will build up and stop the leak. Anyway, makes it look like the rifle is actually being used.
