C93, talk me out of it

I really don't want to have to start buying another caliber, but I've always liked the look and feel of this pattern of rifle. Granted, I've never shot a c93 but I have shot a G3, and it was life changing.

With that said, I'm looking for reviews and experience from you guys on why I shouldn't invest. I held one the other day and it felt like a quality lap dance.

    Thanks,
    Shrub

I vote no, esp if it is a century build. Better off with vector or the like. If you want a big boom (and have the wallet to match) go PTR.

The Century Arms C-93 is the result of Century Arms using a US made reciever + US made barrel + a Malaysian surplus HK-33 parts kit.

They are hit or miss, in that you may be lucky & get one that works or you may get one that needs help to get it to work right.

If you pay more than $500, then you overpaid.

Got mine a few years ago from Henderson (with free bayo) and it functions well. Initially I had fte but after ~100 rounds of quality ammo it ran fine with any brand. Good luck.

I bought one and it stove piped right out of the box. Bolt gap checked out, but the stove piping had me wanting to throw it in the fire. I switched out the extractor spring and it runs like a champ, $2.00 fix. It also eats what ever I feed it too. mags are expensive and hard to find anyone willing to ship as parts kits.

I handled one, didn't shoot it though. Been a while but it didn't strike me as a quality gun. The Vector version that Atlantic Arms used to carry seemed OK though.

Thanks for the heads up. Maybe I'll just stick with my right charging ak plan. Almost spent $650 on a 93 at my LGS, used but with lots of goodies. Mightve been buying some elses headache.

                    I think I've heard enough.

Save yourself the added heacaches and buy a Vector V93. While not free from problems, my understanding is that they're far better.

If you want to drive up to Reno with me, you can buy my HK93 after I get it out of storage. Might be a little more than the Century, though.

I caught the herp from a couple of them. They say that they can be cured but only within one year of manufacturing the herp and not contracting it. Century is hit or miss. My Vectors have never given me the herp so they are the way to go.

Agreed, and you can find the Vectors on sale now and then. Worth the money to save yourself a headache or what could ultimately be un-fixable.
