    Magpul ACS-L or STR

So I am deciding between the ACS-L and STR. I don't care much about storage.

I care mainly about comfort and cheekweld.

I know I should probably find a way to try each, but does anyone have any comparisons or comments that might help me if I demo them in person.

I've had both. Of the two I preffered the STR. It offered a better cheekweld. The only thing I don't like about the STR is that the storage compartments obscure the latch mechanism and it makes it difficult to swap it on and off the receiver extension.

If I am thinking of the same thing you are talking about...there is a hole on the pin that locks the stock in place. You can use the tip of a bullet/snap cap/small screwdriver to aide in switching out stocks.

Oh yeah, I have the ACS (regular not "L") & STR. I really don't notice one being more comfortable as far as cheekweld, but the ACS is longer so it gives you a longer length of pull. I prefer the ACS because I like having the stock fully extended & I shoot with my nose almost touching the charging handle. With the ACS, my cheek is on the stock, with the STR, my cheek is mostly on the buffer tube

Yeah, they give you a little fake plastic bullet to do that but it doesn't really work all that well. The resistance for that last little bit of extension is pretty high. The other Magpul stocks - MOE, CTR, ACS-L, etc - are just eaiser to work with. Just a minor point. I still think the STR is my favorite Magpul stock.

Yeah, I used the plastic bullet they gave but it basically ripped the tip off. After that I just used an allen wrench.

One more plus for the STR is it comes with a QD attachment point. On the ACS, you have to purchase one separately.

My ACS-L came with a QD cup that could be mounted on either side of the stock. The standard ACS should have too. It's in it's own little bag.

I just switched my Vltor Emod to a STR and so far I am happy. I have had a CTR, ACS, and the Emod and the STR is a nice one so far.

Just got the Magpul STR. It looked like the perfect split between the stock Magpul MOE and a huge ACS.

I have the STR and love it! It is aesthetically and functionally a winner. I got the enhanced magpul buttpad too, and it is the most comfortable stock I have shot.

Another +1 for the STR. Got one on my AK and getting another for my AR.
