i knew about that but theyre out to make a profit and my 18 year college wallet is a little on the light side. i was hoping somebody could kinda pass something down to me as people who share a passion for shooting. But thank you.

From what I've seen, not everyone in the seller forum is looking to make a profit. Some people actually sell for decent prices. Just gotta look. I did when I bought my AR from there and got a great deal!

The ones that are bumped for a few weeks without any biters...those people are asking for too much.

You can get a Marlin 60 for $160 or so new at a store. Probably $100 if you look around used. If you can't afford $100-160 shooting might not be something you want to pick up.

Hit some shops with a decent selection of used guns. Old Mossbergs and Marlins can be tack drivers.

OP, go out to Gunrunners in Duarte, they have some OK prices on "certified pre owned" long guns and Gunslingers in Glendora? has a good selection of used long guns from time to time.

Or one of you guys may notice you have so many .22's laying around you could give the kid a beater. (Sorry dahles, my son already cleaned me out of .22s.)

At least he's smart enough to ask for a low cost rifle that shoots low cost ammo to get started.

If you look for c&r guns you don't need to do deros. No sales tax/ no wait. Some good older 22s out there. Long guns must be 50 years or older. If you buy a $150 firearm you save 45-50 bucks.

If you buy a C&R firearm it is a private party face to face with no 10 day waiting period and saves money without 2 trips to ffl dealer. Which idiot said anything about shooting spree.
