    Sure Fire Gun Mags?

I just bought Surefire aka SGM Tactical magazines for my saiga IZ132 7.62x39mm rifle from saigastock.com, a 10 round magazine and a 5 round magazine. The 10 round magazine seems to work and chamber a round but the 5 round magazine does not to lock in place with the magazine release and when a round is chambered it does not feed. Btw I am using Remington 123gr metal case ammo if it makes a difference. I plan on contacting surefire about this, I bought a surefire magazine but they sent me a pro-mag .

Has this happened to any one before?

I dont like aftermarket magazines but these magazines have a hold open feature while the factory magazines do not.

do you have a bullet guide installed on your rifle?

        No I do not

I thought that you did not need one in order to use the magazine in a saiga rifle?

that would be the .223 saiga's and some of the 5.45x39 saiga's. You will need a bullet guide if you want to use after market mags reliably in your rifle.

A lot of the surefire mags are made FOR saigas that are not converted. Either way, they still generally suck.

that's true, but in my experiences I've noticed the 7.62x39 require a bullet guide even when using the unconverted versions of the mag.

I've always felt that way about them too. The only ones I own are for my Saiga .308; I have 6-20s and 2-25s. Today there are other choices but a couple of years ago they were all I could find. They all work well.

People don't like to be meddled with. We tell them what to do, what to think, don't run, don't walk. We're in their homes and in their heads and we haven't the right. We're meddlesome.

                  I called Surefire

They said to send them the 5 round magazine and they will see what is wrong with it and then if somthing is they will send me a new one. Only thing that sucks is I have to pay to ship them the magazine.

No no no, the Surefire 7.62x39 Saiga mags are Saiga specific and are not designed to work with a bullet guide. You only need to install a bullet guide if you want to use AK-47 magazines, which the Surefire mags are not. After I installed the bullet guide in my rifle, the factory and the Surefire mags wouldn't even lock in anymore.

OP I've never had problems with the 10 rounds Surefire 7.62x39 mags before I installed a bullet guide in mine to use my AK mags. I have never touched one of their 5 rounders though.

My smg mags work flawless in my unconverted 7.62x39. They also hold bolt open after last round.

                        Yeah

I was going to get two 10 rounders but I like 5 round magazines for prone shooting.

Update I recived a package from sure fire yesterday. Inside was a new 5 round magazine. At oak tree yesterday i shot 100 rounds out of my saiga and there was only one failure to feed between the two after market magazines .
