Timney trigger for AR

Building a varmint AR ,and thinking of the Timney . What do you guys think, about that ,and anyothers you would use?

I have chip Mc cormick in my M4 ,and so far i love it.It has fired all the wolf ammo ive put through it so far as well.

Some say the Timney is better. What do you guys think?

Have one in mine...love it. Way Better than a stock LPK trigger. Plus gotta love a 3lb trigger pull

I have the Timney AR10 style on my .223 and .308 and love them. The problem is once you shoot it you will not want to go to a stock trigger on any firearm. I have a scar now and need to put the Timney or Gisselle on it.

Timney AR15 Skeleton Triggers are hit and miss. I have had many of them over the years and shipped most back.

A "few" are perfect, but MOST have a small amount of creep and dont break at 3 pounds.

I have timney 3lb and love it so for, but i haven't tried any others yet (besides stock lmt / cmmg parts kit). I'll be getting a Geissele's next on my new lower when i can afford it (1-2 months). Not because i dislike the timney i just want to try both out side by side.

but bottom line do i regret a timney hell no

Im really thinking about the 3# one now.I just hope it does not have light primer strikes.

Do the Timney triggers have any take-up prior to the break?

Timney makes a nice trigger. I've had them in a 98 action Mauser and AR's.

I can tell you the ones I have break clean, light and are very reliable. They have no problems lighting off hard military primers (contrary to Internet lore) and are still running great after thousands of rounds.

Not for the AR they are single stage so no take up. If you want a two stage go to Gisselle.

Have have timneys in most all my AR's plus a few in bolt guns, so far never had an issue

I have a varmint AR as well...

The last Timney I tried on an AR was ok... Nothing to write home about. I don’t know if it was just that one trigger but I was expecting a little cleaner break. They could be hit or miss like someone else said, but I think I could do better for my money.

I have a Geissele SD-E, and I think it’s a little too heavy for a varmint gun as well. Break isn’t glass like for my taste on this type of rifle, so it’s back on my middy. It does feel a bit like the RRA NM trigger, just better.

I plan on getting the Geissele High Speed Match trigger for my varmint setup. I would give that one a serious look before you make a decision.

I hear good things about the JP trigger, if you really want a 1 stage. Have not used that one tho.

I also have a preference towards 2 stage triggers, so that plays into my decision.

I've got 3 of them and had problems with 2 of them doubling!!!!!! My next trigger will not be a timney!
