    Folding pistol grip status???

I don't think this has been bought up here yet so here I go. Look at the picture below:

If you where to fix it so that the pistol grip could not fold back downward would it still be considered a pistol grip per the Cali AW laws? Or should I make this into a poll? This can be purchased at CTD for $39.97.

Would that be comfortable though? To me it seems it would be really awkward holding the AR with that grip folded back. Whats the point of this?

could it then be considered a thumbhole?

It looks to me the only purpose of this would be to reduce the overall height of the rifle for storage. I would avoid this unless on a fixed mag rifle. Even if folded it still allows a "pistol style grasp", just rotate your hand down 90 degrees. It would be hard to shoot, however, and I also agree someone may consider it a thumb-hole stock. It also alows your thumb to be below the trigger line. Smells like trouble to me.

Also, it's from CTD so they won't ship it here anyway. You know any part for a centerfire rifle is illegal in California, right?
