AR 9mm... featureless?

Hi folks,

I thought I'd ask here. Been thinking about building a 9mm AR, specifically this:

However, it's got a mag release on it already. However, 9mm doesn't fit the Assault Weapons description (centerfire vs rimfire). I should be able to run it as is right, I mean without a bullet button? All the other rules apply, I know, it's the bullet button part that's hanging me up.

9mm is centerfire!

Dude...9mm (9x19) is CENTERFIRE. Pistol cartridge or rifle, doesn't matter: it's CENTERFIRE, not rimfire, and that disqualifies it from the RIMFIRE exemption.

BUT.

IF, you were to make it featureless, then you could use it as it. That would be it, and only then.

Its a sexy fricken lower. I went colt style over glock. No special bolt needed was a plus, I don't think i would use the UZI mags I've had for anything else anyways.

What upper are you running in that picture?

Lower:
LW15--had to change the trigger group even with ramped bolt
RR 9mm buffer
Raddlock
Promag magwell (300 rnds now no probs--this is the part I worry about most)
ASC colt style mags no probs

Upper:
BCM "blem" upper
Cmmg ramped bolt
JSE 16" barrel
YHM ff forearm
Fake suppressor shroud

CTD does have the best price on ramped bolts. I actually contacted cmmg about the bolts to see if they ate any different. They said there is no difference and they don't know why CTD is selling them that cheap. So, I bought 2.

I went featureless as well:



I built the upper with a stripped Colt, CMMG ramped bolt and barrel, Spikes brake, MI FF handguard, Magpul BUIS and Aimpoint optics. I use a Hahn block in my standard Stag lower with C-Prods and Colt mags.

This was a splurge and busted my budget. I found an A2 for literally a couple bucks but.....

I also bought one of the Glock mag lowers.

Called Double Diamond today and asked if they had plans to make a bullet button and was told YES. Soonest we could see it is about one month. I will be fallowing up with them in a few weeks.
