The "lite" doesn't kick too hard in .308? Those models seem easier to get around here.

I would say the 30-06 is plenty accurate. I just shot this yesterday with a Winchester M-70:

I would say that either rifle is going to work out for you. If you like the Tikka, then I would get the .30-06. They only make the rifle in one action size to cut costs. This bothers me, but might not matter to you. I really like the Weatherby/Howa 1500 actions. They are pretty bullet proof and very accurate. The price of Tikka magazines really puts me off of them.

I would suggest going to a store and looking at both rifles. See which one fits you best and go with it. I wouldn't loose too much sleep over it though; they are both good choices.

These 2 are in my area.... Knowing my circumstances what should I get? I really appreciate all the help so far!

No I own a T3 Lite in 30-06 and it's not bad. My T3 Lite on 300WM is a different story.

If you can get one for $500 including the transfer fee then this Weaver Grand Slam would be a great choice for a scope. Here's where it sits on the food chain.

Correction , they are all sub moa as of early last year, and even the older ones would shoot sub moa. The orignal sub moa had a better stock that was pillar bedded and an etched floor plate only difference.

I have owned both. They are both very accurate. I don't like the magazine setup on the Tikka. You can't top load it because the reciever opening is so small. It was a good rifle and very accurate but the magazine setup was a turn off. Sportsman's Warehouse has vanguards on clearance right now for 349. That's a hard deal to beat.

                      Correction,

The vanguard 2(the new one) models are all sub moa. The original vanguard came in a standard model as well as a "sub-moa"(was etched on the bottom of the magazine) that ran $200-$400(depending on where you were shopping) more and did not have any difference other than being cherry picked after getting test fired at the factory.

Re correction, the SUB MOA of yester year came with a B&C pillar bedded stock along with what you described, All of the new Vanguards are S-2 models the plain jane Synthetics are no longer available. Tho you can get a youth model with the plain jane Syn stock but it too is an S-2 model. the only difference in the old and the new is the S-2 has a two stage trigger a plastic follower and a synthetic stock with some stupid rubber inserts. Maybe that was the case and I just wasn't seeing it, still didn't justify cherry picking barreled actions and charging as much as they did for a drop-in stock. Regardless, with the newer vanguard 2 line you aren't guaranteed to get a crappy shooter (unless you paid a boat load more for it).
