The Marlin 45-70 Guide Gun??? If so, I'm jealous...that's a great gun -- and a cool cartridge!

I've been thinking of getting the same thing. Something about a big boom
still torn between that or a .450 bushmaster upper
In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

I tried to sell my wife on it recently -- I was like

"Honey, you can take any game in North America with this gun!"

            and she said:

            "But sweetie, YOU DON'T HUNT"

            and I was like

            [crickets]....[/crickets]

"honey, all the paper targets vulnerable to 5.56mm are extinct; I need to get something with a larger power factor to defend the family....against....thicker paper plates. or something"

Anyway, I obviously need to work on my sales pitch for the .45-70.

That was perfect. I've had that talk so many times with my wife.
Funny thing is that she never seems to think she should need to defend owning 100 airs of shoes...

Congrats on the purchase. I doubt you will ever regret it.

Seriously. I bought mine a few years ago. I managed to find a first year gun with the porting, factory rear ghost ring and NIB! Its a seriously fun gun. Remember, handloading the 45-70 round will save you a but load of money in the long run.

I put an Ashley express rail on mine with a fixed 4X long eye relief scope on mine and I can drill just about anything in 100 yards I also added an aftermarket red anodized follower, larger loop lever (not too big, just right for using gloves) and an aftermarket trigger.
