Not, I think that all your advise has been great, I really enjoy it when I walk into these type of threads where the animal is placed back together piece by piece and laws are explained to retards like me... Very informative, now for some reason I am beggining to believe that I MUST HAVE an AK47....

I'd be very uncomfortable relying upon an insert kit to make an AK non centerfire.

Can you elaborate as to why? I know Bill says an AR with a .22lr upper is kosher, and to me, is no more difficult to remove than a barrel insert. The insert is held in place with a set screw, and if some unscrupulous LEO were to remove the barrel insert, he'd still have a rifle with a 7.62 barrel and a dedicated .22lr non-gas operated (operated) bolt.

I was unaware that the insert had both the set screw and would leave the firearm single action. I haven't seen the AK inserts and as such thought you'd end up with a 7.62x39 semiautomatic upon removal.

Question: Is a collapsible stock a folding stock?

Legally they are the same. The law names both "folding" and "telescoping" stocks in the evil feature list.

We were hoping you or Bill would weigh in on this subject. I know everything in CA is a gray area, but do you think it would be kosher to have a 26" folding stock AK w/the Ciener kit?

Here's what one looks like. FYI, the bolt replaces the 7.62 bolt AND carrier, so there is no possibility of firing a 7.62 out of it with the insert removed and the .22lr bolt installed.

I'd say its legal since its not centerfire, but I would caveat that with you need to be willing to defend yourself to prove it. Is the barrel .22 bore?
