They let out a burst when you pull the trigger once, or keep shooting if you hold the trigger... I though we couldn't have them here :0
Burst is not the same as full auto

It has both modes; Either way it's a select fire weapon...
My AR is 7.62x39, so that if/when we get invaded, I can shoot their ammo back at them!

A 14.5" AR-15 with a permanent muzzle device will be just a hair under 31" with the stock collapsed. If you want something shorter, you should look at rifle caliber pistols like other folks have suggested. Either an AR pistol or AK pistol would do what you're looking for, just be aware they're more "PDW" than they are "rifle".

Steyr USR is exactly 30 inches with a 20 inch barrel.

We all know Super Soakers are made in China and imported here. So, if you decide to increase the water capacity over 5 oz or put a pistol grip on it, you would have to make it 922r compliant.

Despite what most people say, AR Pistols can be quite handy if you know how to properly cheek the buffer tube. There is NO need to put that tube to your shoulder, just put the buffer tube to your cheek and line up the sights. Thats all, no shoulder movement. Myself and my 12 and 13yr old daughters shoot them very well.

FYI, that forward vertical grip is legal because of the length of the Ar pistol. Not legal the on shorter Pistol obviously.

The assault weapon regs say that clips are not ammunition feeding devices...

                  Title 11. Law
                  Division 5. Firearms Regulations
Chapter 39. Assault Weapons and Large- Capacity Magazines
Article 2. Definitions of Terms Used to Identify Assault Weapons

The following definitions apply to terms used in the identification of assault weapons pursuant to Penal Code section 30515:
but does not include clips, en bloc clips, or stripper clips that load cartridges into the magazine.
That's why the "tanker" Garand that Sailormilan2 posted is not an assault weapon under California law, even with the folding stock and flash suppressor.

What are those o-rings/divets you have plugged into the cooling holes on that Troy Alpha rail?
