    Christmas Gift

While visiting my friend's family in Idaho for Ortodox Christmass this year (Jan. 7), they were unwraping their gifts in the morning, and I spoted quiet large package that wasn't touched. After everybody were done, my friend asks; " wouldn't you want to open yours?" I was like what???? So I get that package with my name on it, unwrap it and what do I see? A beautiful Russian SKS.... Beautiful laminated stock.... And a 30 rds. Detachable magazine. After I told him that in this configuration it wasn't CA legal, he found 5 rd. chinese magazine, disasembled and reasembled the rifle with 5 rounder, and said; "is it legal now"? NOW IS MY QUESTION...... Is it legal now? Would a CA FFL receive it for transfer? Thanks.

you`d probably have to send it to a ffl out here to dros it unless its 50 years or older for c&r.

As long as it is a fixed mag I do not see a problem with it. Note I said "FIXED" mag. Then have him send it to an FFL in this state so that you can DROS it.
sigpicIf you loan someone twenty dollars and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

        sks

It is 1953, and with that 5 rounder it is "fixed", you need to take off fire control group to detach magazine, but I want to send it to FFL anyway. My concerne was it's legality. Thanks.
