    Mosin/Nagant M44 Limbsaver Question

    Hi All,

I am gonna pick up a M44 next week and I got some questions.

Which recoil pads (Brand Name/Size) do you guys use for the ATI Synthetic stock? I also plan to do some shooting on the original wooden stock and so which recoil pad would you use for that?

I say go down to your nearest Wal-Mart and pick up the only Limbsaver that they stock which is the small slip-on one for about $18.00. It fit all mosin's and a lot of other mil-surps like a glove.

if you are going to put on the ati stock, then i would say a limb saver is not needed, the ati stock has a rubber recoil pad already.

you dont need a pad, it is not as bad as you think it is. just hold it close to your shoulder. be prepared to have lots of fun.

I have Pachmayr(medium) slip on pads on my nagants. Butler creek makes them too. Both take the sting out of the rifles. Here's a Pachmayr:

Walmart also has the type that you actually wear. Its basically a pad with a sling on it that holds it on your shoulder. It looks a little goofy but at least you can just grab different rifles and not have to have pads for every one of them.
                    Sorta like this

Otherwise, you can always just wear a thick jacket

Thanks again to all for the info. I am gonna try using the ATI stock with the built-in pad before adding anything extra.
