Im new to precision rifles and I just picked up a R700 with a 20MOA NF rail mounted on it. I need to purchase 1" rings to mount a scope I have for it. I plan on upgrading the scope later to a 30mm tube at which point I will probably purchase higher quality rings.
Everyone I speak to tells me not to buy "cheap" rings and I only have $100 to invest at this point. What do you recommend as "quality" rings at my budget.
BTW I am mounting a Leupold VX III 3.5x10x40 on a R700LTR. I know it's not the best match of glass to rifle but I have the sad and lonely scope sitting in the safe waiting for playmate. It will have to do until I can afford to spend $800-$1000 on a proper scope for the rifle.
