Scope/Rings/Mounts for Remi 700 270 and Browning 308

as the title says, I have an older 70s style Remington Model 700 in 270 and a Browning BAR Safari in 308. I'd like to get into hunting and/or longer range shooting with either of these two rifles and would like to get some feedback as to an optics system for the Remi 700 and the BAR 308.

especially if you're wanting to get into longer range shooting make sure you get a good base and good rings...
for the base my personal preference in Badger Ordnance (amazing fit, didnt need to even skim bed any of it, integrated recoil lug) seekings precision, nightforce, etc all make nice bases also.
for rings i went with tps rings and i like them, when i upgrade to more scope i'll also upgrade my rings...seekings precision make nice match sets as does vortex, badger, nightforce, all those guys...if you still want good rings but want to save a few bucks im very happy with my tps rings and have read lots of other good reviews about them.
as for as scope goes...how much are you lookin to spend? $1000? $350? less?
