OLL ASSEMBLY QUESTION

I'm assembling my first OLL (Stag). All installation steps (bullet button, bolt catch, pivot pin, trigger assembly) have gone smoothly. Now I'm at the hammer assembly step and have a question regarding the hammer pin installation. That is, after aligning the assembly in the receiver, as I press the hammer pin through the hammer and hammer spring, the pin is meeting resistance and won't go through the assembly easily with hand pressure. Apparently, the pin is hanging up on the J pin in the hammer. I don't want to force it. Should I take my brass hammer and tap the pin through to get it past the J pin? Thank you.

YOu want to make sure that it lines up first. The best way to do this is to take a similar sized nail and use it as a guide, from there slowly tap in the pin using a brass hammer or a small mallet. It should go in pretty easily, but it wont go in with just hand pressure.

If you have a straight punch of approximately the same diameter as the pin, you can slide that in place of the nail mentioned above and it works much better since there is a handle on the end and you can easily move it around to get it to align on the other side. Then you can just "push out" the punch with the pin by hand or by tapping it with a hammer and it stays aligned properly the whole way through.

OLL ASSEMBLY QUESTION

Thank you Stormfeather and Shark92651. I used a 5/32 brass punch on the opposite side of the receiver and pushed the hammer pin all the way through without any problems. I did the function check and everything works as it's supposed to work. Thanks again.
