If you're referring to the new imported ones, they are made in Serbia. Very nice quality.

Michell Arms is a listed CA assault weapon. Those were importing in the 80's.

One of the better built (if not overbuilt) AKs out there. The Tantal is also well built, but in a different class based on the caliber and mass. Between the two 7.62x39 mm rifles, the M70 is the one I'd select.

The M70B2/AB2 models (fixed and folding stock, respectively) have a lot of Yugo specific features not found on other AKs. They are not entirely AKM compatible, with several parts unique to this class of AKs. I did a write up on this not long ago. The Polish OBR Tantal is also a great rifle, but in 5.45x39 mm. It is presently cheaper to shoot (assuming all milsurp) and a great addition if you don't already have an AK74 class weapon. Tantal deviates from the AK74 in a number of ways, having certain backward compatibility in parts to the older AKM, though all the important parts (the action) are AK74. I'm building one of these in the near future having gotten all my parts but the rear sight base.

If you'd prefer to buy up a lot of ammo for more range fun, the WASR 10 will be cheaper than either of the above rifles (though the ammo will add up given the delta between 5.45x39 and 7.62x39), whether building or buying. They are rougher and ruder but they are the consumate AKM and you can't go wrong just buying up ammo by the crate with the money you save on AK-snobbery some of us suffer from.

If you plan to get one in a kit form make sure the barrel is good most of all of them seen action in the balkans war

Even many of the "dark bore" surplus models have plenty of life in them, but are in need of good electrolytic cleaning to knock the crud out.

New barrels from AK-Builder or Green Mountain are just fine too and available in either plain or chrome lined.
