my friends and I bought all the tools, parts and parts kits to build 11 AK's on our own. but we need to know what you guys do to heat treat your recievers. please tell us tempretures and method of reaching those temps. and quenching style( brine, oil, air etc.) thanks

Oil or brine solution.
Brine: 5 gallons of water. 1 pound of salt. 6 oz of liquid soap.

one of the guys in our group is slightly anal and wants to send the recievers out to a heat treating facility and have them hardened to 40 rockwell... is that over kill? I'm thinking so after reading your responses.If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck.Comment
