    Oil or brine solution.
Brine: 5 gallons of water. 1 pound of salt. 6 oz of liquid soap.

Yeah, we used to use it. But it made a huge mess, and the smell....

          Gotcha.

What's the best gas to use to heat? Propane? Butane /map?

Mapp is what we use, just because it's hotter than propane.

Is it necessary to heat treat the entire receiver or is only treating the holes sufficient?

one of the guys in our group is slightly anal and wants to send the recievers out to a heat treating facility and have them hardened to 40 rockwell... is that over kill? I'm thinking so after reading your responses.

Yes it is. I have had my first build only since November and its running strong and nothing wrong at all. Some guys here way way longer than me with no issues.

                        Its like killathrilla said it.

If the person wants to do that, might as well get a Nodak receiver.
