Which larue scope mount is the right one for my rifle?

    Hey guys,

I got an LWRC Repr and a 4-16X50 scope with 30mm tube(says on the box). The scope mount is the only thing I need in order to complete the rifle. I have no clue which one of these mounts is the right one for me, I'm new to precision/long range shooting and have always proffered iron sights but it's now time to get into rifles with scopes.

I would like to be able to keep the rear back up iron sight installed and not have to remove it because of the scope.

Which Larue mount is the right one for my rifle? Anyone have experience with multiple mounts?

    LaRue Tactical SPR-E LT139

LaRue Tactical SPR / M4 Scope Mount QD LT104

LaRue Tactical .50 BMG QD, LT107 For .50 BMG, so this ones not for me.

So many options, I'm lost. There's some info there but being new to this precision stuff I have no clue. I'm only familiar with Acogs and Eotechs.

    Some specs on rifle:
    -.308
-Planning on using it from 0-750 yards, 1000 would be pushing it, I definitely don't plan on doing anything over 1000 yards with it.

A lot of your decision will depend on the amount of eye relief your scope has. I have a 3-15x50 Weaver Tactical on mine with 4"+ eye relief. The standard M4(SPR 1.5) mount geometry almost isn't enough with a fully extended SOPMOD stock. Figure out your eye relief and ideal location of your scope and that will help you select a mount.

BTW, I ended-up going away from the LaRue mounts altogether(on an otherwise complete LaRue rifle) in favor of an extended, canted riser and rings. It is rock solid and has worked amazingly well.

I remember reading somewhere that when mounting rings like your set up, you should have both rings no the upper and not one on the upper and one on the rail.

Something about the stress it will give when shooting which can effect your zero and possibly damage the scope.

        Any ideas?

You can always call Larue for your answer. They are very helpful with this.

However, it may be possible none of their mounts will work for you (they might not tell you this) because of the distances you plan on shooting at. The one that might work is the LT-112 but not if you are using BUIS with it.

Have you looked in to AADMOUNT? Not QD but they have 20 MOA cant build into the mount and it is extended like the LT-104 but not as far out as the LT-139.

I tried the LT135 but needed more elevation for my scope, so I switched to the LT158 since it has 10 MOA built in. Works out great for my set up.

The other thing to think about is how much elevation your scope has. I was able to shoot 223 out to 800y with just an LT104. Optics used were Burris 1-4X MTAC and SWFA SS10x.

I can't imagine 308 needing elevation built into the mount for shooting under 1000y. But to be sure, give Larue a call. As long as your optic isn't a cheapy, they should be able to tell you exactly what mount you need.

                I forgot the LT-158 had 10 MOA built-in.

I think the general idea is that the receiver and handguard should be in perfect alignment, and the only way to ensure that is to use a monolithic upper. In my case, I needed something with more forward throw than the LT104 and less throw than the LT139. I just decided to go with this setup because it gave me the most flexibility. That extended riser holds tighter than any quick release mount. If you can get past the fact that it isn't as Gucci as the LaRue or ADM options, it's probably the best way to go.

I think most are warned about bridging the gap because even if the rail is in perfect alignment there could be enough flex in the handguard to effect your zero and on a long range setup it doesn't take much.

There are add-on rails that solve this problem.

Droppin Dueces, by the looks of it, your add on scope rail isn't even attached to your handguard. Am I seeing that correct?

It is not. It's functionally identical to the LaRue style mounts, except it's 100% adjustable and tailored to my needs. I might never go back!

Scope is a Millet TRS-1, I got it for $200 brand new. I'll be picking up a Nightforce F1 in the fall but I still want to shoot my rifle in the meantime. Also, after I get the Nightforce, I'd like to put the Millet on one of my AR's.
