In my experience, selling quality factory rifles is easy on here, but anything custom or homebuilt is a crapshoot.

Just don't be one of those people that spent $1200 building their ar, shot about 2k rounds though it and expect to sell it for $1150

I sold mine very quick when I separated the upper, lower, and optics.

I think you would have a better market if you were willing to ship. You're limiting yourself. Personally if I'm going to spend $1200 I would rather spend $1700 and build an AR10 the way I want it. IMO a 7-800 dollar plinker will be fine for most guys. Saw one sell at the gun show last weekend for asking price $700. And I also just think there are a lot of AR's out there. I know guys with more receivers than they will ever use.

Sold mine last week to a friend for $650. The rifle was practically new (MEGA Lower/DPMS Upper and extras) with only 40 rounds down the pipe to function test. All things considered... I didn't mind taking a little loss since I will probably get to visit her every now and then when my friend takes her out I think the difficulty is that lots of people own ARs now and as stated, custom rifles in the eyes of the consumer is just not the same as a factory built AR...

With all due respect your rifle is priced to high. If the gun was priced right it would move QUICK

Hold onto it until the election gets closer. I imagine that it will be very easy to sell later this year

I agree with this. I just finished building mine for $770 and it's pretty sweet!

You're selling a used AR put together for more than a brand new Colt. That would be hard for me to justify as a buyer.

With the glut on the market as has been said before. You may want to part it out.

I find that name brand sells.

Custom ones are only good to part out. I've sold 2 custom ar part by part and is really the only way you can at all semi recover some money.

This. I haven't tried to buy or sell an AR in the private classifieds, but Everytime I see a build for sale, I think, "why would anyone take a chance on someone else's build when there are so many good cheap new factory options."

Custom rifles are built the way the owner wants them. The people purchasing it wont want it the same specs....... So less desirable.

i`ve sold 2 in the last 2 months. Had to lower my prices on both. Sold them for $700 each. One was a Stag model 4. The other was a Sarco Colt M16A2 kit on a Stag lower.

I wanted a new AR in different caliber, but I can only do that if I sell my old one. However, I got my one during the last election, so you can imagine how much it cost me to build it. I know it'll be next to impossible to sell it at a decent price. So I might as well keep it, and forget building a new one, for now.
