    New glass for my AR-15

Picked up a nice Burris TAC-30 and P.E.P.R. QD setup from the classifieds here for my semi-budget build AR-15. This latest acquisition brought my build total to just over $1075. Still need a stock, though. I'm not liking the basic M4 stock very much. I have spent more than I anticipated but I'm really liking this rifle!

    (Excuse the messy desk.....)

Hey, what's up with the rifle pr0n in the office? Looks like a civil engineer's office from the looks of the papers....

IMO the m4 stock is not a good choice when running a magnified optic. I recommend the vltor imod or emod. I haven't tried magpuls new stock though.

Nice. I just ordered my scope, a Nikon P-223 and should get it in a few days.

How do you like that mount? I ordered the Nikon P series mounts, but I was looking at the one you have. Would you recommend it? If I don't like the P series, I may return them for that one.

I have the Nikon M223 2x8x32 scope with the M223 mount on my Windham SRC. Love the rifle and the scope, they are a good match.

nice setup -- cantilever mounts are the way to go.

+1. it's even more useful if you're using AAs or CR123s for optics or illumination, but not using the storage space would lighten it up. very ergonomic, nice angle for cheek weld.

for my part, i'm curious about how you like the burris QD system. i have their AR-TER cantilever red-dot mount preordered; i'm planning on using it to hold a flashlight.

i just mounted that same scope (with the BDC reticle) on a 20" hbar upper, and i LOVE it. it's riding in an ADM mount, which is also great gear.

Good eye, it is a civil engineers office! After hours it's nice and quiet with no kids with grabby hands like I have at home.

Yeah, I don't like the M4 stock much at all. I'm looking at both the Vtor I-mod and the Magpul ACS-L. Whichever i find cheapest will most likely get the nod.

That is just a plastic cover over a cheap A2 flash hider.

I like the mount but I haven't shot the gun with this setup yet. I can tell you it is well made and mounts securely to the rail. The rings also provide a lot of surface area for a firm hold on the scope. I have a Burris scope and Burris rings on my .30-30 and they've been solid.
