Possible mag problem?

So my friend is trying to explain what is going on with his ar. He says on every last round fired he cant get the bolt to release when he inserts a new mag. He sates he has to manually push the bolt carrier back then he can get it to release and come forward. He is suppose to bring it by today as im sure we can all agree its hard to say without looking at it. Any ideas guys?

Like you said it is hard to say without looking at it. It could be the magazine. Do you know what kind of magazine he is using? Keep us updated.

might sound dumb but he knows about the bolt catch release on the left side right?
