I have a Smith brake on my Mini-14. The hole is large. I'm sure you could fit .311 thru it, but I don't know if that would ruin its funtionality. See it in the following link.
I use it more as a harmonic dampener rather than to reduce muzzle rise. I've read a mass at the end of that pencil thin '14 barrel increases the accuracy,a nd I have paper to prove it.
You'll need to get you bbl threaded to M-16 specs 28tpi X 1/2.
Do some research, or goto PU. They have alot of Mini help.
