where do we stand with AR type weapons

I have a friend that has a friend, that has a cousin that is into ARs but hasn't followed the latest rules and developments. Where do we stand with bullet button etc? I think his AR's have the bullet button but there was registration at some point to register as AW and this deadline was missed. Now what?

I tend to stand behind them. Maybe to the side. Definitely not in front of them.

Bullet Button was banned, any rifle now with a bullet button, if it wasn't registered during a registration period, is an illegal assault weapon. The owner needs to either make the gun featureless or fixed magazine to come into legal compliance. The easiest way is to go featureless or install a CompMag. There are plenty of other locked magazine
solutions but I've tried several of them and found most of them either pain to install or a pain to use once installed but his mileage may vary. Featureless ARs can utilize legally owned standard capacity magazines while fixed magazine rifle are capped to 10 round or less mags only. All of my ARs are featureless, but AR pistols have to be fixed mag
so I have one of those too.

My AR's look a little strange with Sparrow grips, fixed MFT stocks and various linear compensators fitted.

Yes, they get looks out if state. "What the hell is that thing"? is the first question.

Then I tell my sad tale of buying legal weapons and having them turned into felonies after the fact. The last thing I say is don't vote for Newscum.

Unfortunately, Newscum is just the tip of the iceberg. It’s the NAMBLA clan in the legislature that is the driving force behind gun control. They long for the day when they can have sex with your children without fear of getting shot.

I like the ability to be able to use detachable magazines, so my rifles are “Featureless”. I primarily use the Thordson Generation III stock, as it looks a bit less weird than the Gen II. It’s quite comfortable, but slightly heavier than a standard stock setup.
I have a couple of the “Fin” grips. They are cheaper than the Thordson, but they’re not quite as comfortable as the Thordson. Currently, I use the VISM, with the ambidextrous thumb shelf.
But, then one must somehow fix the movable stock so that it no longer moves. I’m using Strike Industries “rubber” strips to do this. The fin grip and strip are cheaper than the Thordson Generation III.
I don’t have any experience with other types of shortened grips to be able to comment on them.

There’s about as much apathy with regard to the unconstitutional gun laws themselves. I’ve had range masters look at my Compmag and say, “ You don’t need to worry about that here..”😆

I have the Resurgent Arms and Sparrow Dynamics grips on all of my ARs, they both allow a MUCH better grip with your thumb wrapped around the top of the grip that any other featureless grip.
I have a fin grip on my AK and it sucks, fin grips are the worst.

I know, I went to buy some more from them and they were gone. But thankfully Sparrow Dynamics is still around!

I first went with a MonsterMan Grip, but I really did not care for it. I tried the VISM grip with the ambidextrous thumb shelf, and I like it much better. But, I still prefer the Thordson stock.
