Why did I send my Hellion all of the way to Minnesota!?!

I recently bought my Hellion from a kind fellow Calgunner. It's great, a very well built and engineered bullpup with all of the normal bullpup quirks. The main limitation though was the stereotypical
crappy bullpup trigger. Everyone loves to hate on bullpup triggers because they are decidedly meh to terrible. I termed the Hellion trigger "meh", I've shot worse but it was a bit sloppy with a ton a takeup.
Once you get to the wall, it's still a pretty accurate rifle for a military rifle, I experience 1 to 1.5 MOA depending the ammo.

I came across coverage from 2025 SHOT Show with an interview with a company out of Minneapolis who were showing their Springfield Hellion Trigger Pack. You can mail in your trigger pack and for $225, they mail
you back an already breathed upon, stoned and polished trigger assembly. For $350, they offer the same trigger pack but you send them your rifle and they remove 90% of the take up and pre-travel and install the trigger pack.
I got on the waiting list right during SHOT and waited to hear from them when to send in my rifle to them. As you know, the linkage from the trigger back to the trigger pack is mostly what makes bullpup triggers so bad and these guys
have came up with a way to make the Hellion trigger so much better than stock, it's amazing. Springfield and HS Produkt have been working with them on some possible collaboration and they are a legit small FFL who are doing some
    really cool things.

I was nervous mailing my new rifle through the Post Office, it was a PITA and the staff made me come back to deal with one of the managers on a separate day from when I first came in to mail it. Black Talon received my rifle in a week and they did the work and shipped it
back to me in four days, amazing turnaround. Dave Wiese, the owner/president of Black Talon worked with me and Dave's communication was exemplary, great guy. I received the rifle back last week and the difference was amazing. I measured trigger pull before I shipped
it with the stock trigger and it was around 8lbs with my Wheeler Digital Trigger Gauge. The trigger had 9mm of takeup and the reset was about 5mm.

After Black Talon did their work, the trigger pull is now 4-4.25lbs and the reset is about 2mm. Amazing. This trigger actually feels better than my ARs with the LaRue MBT triggers. I'm far from a trigger expert and I've never owned a rifle with a really high performance
expensive trigger but based upon what I am experiencing how, if you are willing to spend the money, you can own a Hellion with an amazing trigger. I will getting it out to the range to actually try it out but just feeling the difference and measuring the difference has been
    impressive.

Shout out to Black Talon Tactical and Dave Wiese. I truly didn't think a bullpup military semi auto rifle could have this kind of trigger feel, but it can if you're willing to jump through the hoops. https://blacktalontac.com/hellion/

Was always hoping Geiselle would think something up. Their Super Sabra Trigger Pack with the Super Sabra Lightning Bow trigger for the Tavor X95 is quite amazing.

I bought the Hellion (stupid name) from the very first few to be Californicated, and expected Geiselle to have something by now.

If some level of government had that information, what would they do with it? How would having that info benefit public safety? How would it benefit law enforcement?

I thought about waiting but even if someone else comes up with a good trigger pack, you will still have to deal with the tons of pre-travel before hitting the wall. While that slop is not the end of the world, it's really nice having a trigger that basically has hardly any slack, it just goes into the crisp break.

Also installed the Manticore Arms Curved Buttpad that reduces the LOP by an inch and installed the lunar Tech Designs Enhanced Bolt Release, Extended Mag Release Button and the Flared Magwell for STANAG mags. All nice improvements from stock operationally.

NOTE:  We have found through extensive testing that Magpul QD sling swivels are slightly undersized compared to most other QD sling swivels on the market, and may disconnect from the QD pockets on the Buttpad while all others stay locked in the QD pockets.  We recommend use of Midwest Industries QD sling swivels for a high quality swivel. The Hellion Curved Buttpad features an aluminum and hard polymer structure with a bolt on rubber buttpad pad, and reduces the length of pull 1" shorter over the rather long OEM length of pull (15.5" vs. the 16.5" to 18.25" of the OEM). The rubber pad is curved to conform to the shoulder and gives both better ergonomics and a better grip so the rifle does not slide around, and has an additional 1" of "drop" at the toe over the OEM Hellion buttpad to give a much larger surface area and the ability to ride the rifle more securely on the shoulder for a more inline stance. The buttpad is designed to keep the rifle over 26" in overall length. The Hellion Curved Buttpad is made by Manticore Arms in the USA. Please be sure to order the correct buttpad for your rifle, and if not sure please contact customer service at info@manticorearms.com

You still running the stock trigger on your VHS 2? (I agree, Hellion is lame, let's just call it what the maker calls it!)

Yes, but I'm glad you started this thread as I had not heard of this - sounds nice and I'm going to look into just sending them the trigger pack option.

Thanks for taking the time to make that thorough post. A great review.

Thanks man. It's been difficult posting here for obvious reasons but glad you found it helpful on those rare occasions when we can access the Forum!
