The front of the buffer retention plate was slightly different, but onlt took a minute to modify to HK spec.
The differences between HK and CETME are subtle unless you know what to look for:
    HK

    CETME

Slight difference on handguard. HK uses a pin, CETME is friction fit with a spring tab. The rear sling attachment on the CETME is similar to K98 Mauser with the leather sling end passing through a slot in the stock, and secured by a sling a retention plate and tab on the other side of the stock. WHile the buffer and recoil rod is slightly different, the CETME works fine on the G3.
