How do I get muzzle flash?

I am a big fan of the muzzle flash that comes out of the Mosin Nagants. I went to the range a couple days ago and my PSL (uses the same rounds) only flashed one of the 10 rounds. Is there a way to get all 10 rounds to flash?

i've heard most muzzle brakes increase the flash. HA! or you can shorten your barrel!

could be the long barrel... the carbine nagants flash more often than long barreled 91/30's

i think your psl suffers the same trait

Slower burning powders will do it. Basically, all flash is, is powder burning in front of the muzzle. Compensators/muzzle brakes are most effective when this occurs (it's why you see nice big fire balls coming out of the tops of Open division pistols and rifles in USPSA). For your rifle, you can cut the barrel, or if you reload, just go to a slower burning powder.

If you really like fireballs you ought to build an AK pistol

Well, I know that my 16'' AR with no muzzle device (just a thread protector) has one helluva muzzle flash on a dark night.

We hold night shoot on Thursday's at SLOSA. It is easy to tell when the Nagant Boys show up.

                    "bang..bang..bang...bang..BOOM(flash)..BOOM(flash)..bang...bang"

"Hey! Can you guys go to the far end with those Naggies? Yer blinding the pistol shooters!!"
