I have a factory RRA Varmint 18" with the 2-stage match trigger. Ive been more than happy with the accuracy out to 380 yards this year on rock chucks up here in Idaho. It holds a consistent 3/4" group at 100. I would recommend it in a heart beat. BUT, i would recommend their "predator" upper instead to save on weight. My rifle is only the 18" and it's one heavy mother.

I gotta tell you though, i actually prefer my bolt gun for varmint work. It's easier to get perfectly steady in almost any position. Both work well though, i just prefer the traditional stock for varmint hunting when ill be lying down.

You should give Dan Carey a call. He builds some amazing guns from 17 tac to 6.8. I just got my 204 ruger 22" sporter weight and it shoots just amazing. Good customer service and it got her pretty fast after I ordered it.

          Hectic,
You really have to think about what type of varmint hunting you are going to do. For coyotes I would look for a more lightweight gun or walking style varminter as the weight can be an issue if you are walking a lot and only looking for a few follow up shots. If going for squirrels or prairie dogs then look for a heavy barrel. A 20" RRA works great otherwise look to a bolt action or standard weight barrel. I carry a 20" RRA heavy barrel and it is a Biotch to carry for three days but is a blast. Think about what you are going after and let that drive your decision. Or say screw it and use that as a reason to buy another rifle.

I was recently in the market for a varmint rifle and was considering an AR myself. In the end I settled on getting the new Mossberg MVP. Reviews on it are great and the price is great. And who doesnt like the thought of a bolt action that takes AR Mags. Only 7 more days till its out of jail.

Daniel Defense M4V7. It's one sweet rifle. Or get a BCM upper and a lower of your choice.

                    X2 for Rock River.
I've got a 20" varminter, 2stage trigger, A2stock, bull bbl. I put a Millet TRS1 on top, and its good to go.

White Oak Armament make some choices you can tailor your bullet for. Twists from 7 to 12 and fairly decent prices.

                      And White Oak Precision...

Take into consideration if you are in the Condor Zone. If so, lead free is required.

Another option is Stag Arms Model 6 varminter. I've heard nothing but good things about it (other than that the 24" SS Bull Barrel is heavy):

"What a lovely but absolutely ridiculous sentiment!"

I was thinking about the Stag and the RifleGear sells it with a 2 stage trigger from Giessle so it seems like that might be the one but I'm open to all suggestions. I won't be buying until the end of the month unless something extraordinary comes up. I'm going to a gun show this weekend but I'm not going to hold my breath on that one I'll just be browsing.

Stag makes a good one considering price/performance. I believe it's the model 6. Here's the URL: http://www.stagarms.com/product_info...roducts_id=211 . You could also upgrade (sort of) and go with the 3G. Not a pure varmint gun but 18" barrel designed for accuracy.
I'm a fan of there's because their CEO is left handed, as am I, and everything they make is made for either strong hand. I hear they're working on a .308. Life will be good.
