help me fix my sling mount

It feels all messed up, doesn't hang right, etc. What do I need to get so that the rifle will hang down in front at "ready" with this it wants to flip around and sit "backwards"? I'm pretty sure a spikes SAR rail would have front side mounts so that would fix it but like any rail they are $300. and then do I want a 9" one so I don't have to get a low profile FSB or a 10"-12" one so I have more space?

It's a blue force gear padded sling.

I've been thinking of going featureless with a hammerhead or grip wrap so in that case I don't think a rear receiver mount will work.

I'm like one of those people on the DIY network trying failing to remodel a house. None of this was in the instruction manual! LOL.

To make it hang at the ready you will either want a single point sling, or your sling points should be mounted on the left side front and top or left side rear.

simple physics; that's what happens when the sling is on the bottom of the rifle. you need mounts on the side to carry in that style. i'll give you some examples that let you keep the current handguard, all assuming that you're ok with the way the sling is attached now, i.e., without using some form of quick-detach swivels or hook points.

in the rear, you can put an attachment point on the buffer tube like this (be aware that some of these replace your end plate, while others are meant to clamp on behind it). another option is that slot in your buttstock that you're not using -- you can bolt a sling mount there, or just loop the sling itself right through.

up front, you can bolt a mount to your front sight or loop a steel cable through the sight. there's a shorter version of the steel cable that just wraps around the handguard as well. there may be other ways to do this -- i'm not as familiar with the options since both my uppers use railed handguards.

a sling like this will attach to the side with no hardware needed. or a package like this offers one-stop shopping. HTH.

Don't know my rifle hangs "at the ready" with my 2 point sling. I think it depends on the overall length of the sling. The sling that came with my AR sucked, it wouldn't allow me to have it "at the ready. But since I bought a new sling I can have it "at the ready" and the sling doesn't get in the way.

Stick it through the slit on your stock so that it wraps around the top.
Give that a try. Otherwise, just like everyone said. Change the mounting points all together by purchasing sling mounts.
