CA legality of SKS with thumbhole stock

Is a Norinco SKS with a thumbhole stock considered the same as one with a pistol grip for purposes of the CA AWB? Anybody know?

P.S. it still has the original 10 round fixed mag

it has a fixed 10 rounder so it can have features

the thumbhole style stock seems to be the only feature that does not trigger rule 922r

Bingo- it's legal if it has a fixed mag.

Be careful, all the thumbhole Norincos I've seen were the D or M models,w hich accepted AK mags and are banned by 'name' in 1989. (sort of grey, but I remember them asking folks to turn them in in 1999).

Not sure how to tell if it accepts AK mags, all I know is it currently has the original style fixed ten rounder that swings out but does not detach. I'm pretty sure the bolt has the slot for the stripper clips too but I didn't check that specifically.

Anyone know which models are the ones that have the grenade launchers?

from my understanding Thumbhole stocks are equal to pistol grips. any laws that apply to pistol grips apply to thumbhole stocks

Fixed mag = AW LAWS DO NOT APPLY.

If it has a fixed mag in place, it's not a banned SKS D or M. The D or M cannot take a fixed SKS mag- they only take AK mags thanks to a modification of the mag well.

Wow- I should dig mine out and sell it.

I have one which got yanked and binned when the 2K ban took effect. Been (somewhere) in the garage ever since.

From what I recall, the detachable 30 rounders worked like crap, but the fixed 20 rounders worked well.

Since the SKS has a thumbhole stock you may have violated the 922r laws.I would check it out to see if a thumbhole stock is a pistol grip.If so you will have to count imported parts compared to US parts. Here is a link on 922r.
