Please recommend a good brake for a Mini 14 tactical

I'm guessing that whatever works good with an AR ought to work good with the Mini. More importantly it should look cool. Any pics of yours?

How about legalness? If it says "BRAKE" it should be OK?????

The "looks cool" part is a challenge on the Ruger. I don't think you can attach just anything that looks good on an AR - on the Mini's thinner barrel they look chunky & large. I have a Benelli MR 1 and went with the Nordic Brake: http://www.parallaxtactical.com/stor...brake-926.html

It comes with a "finishing" type crush washer that matches the finish & diameter of the brake perfectly. Works well, kind of loud left & right.

No need for one. That's why they designed the 5.56/.223 50 years ago. A good brake is no brake.

in his defense, the mini tends to have better accuracy with the brake. the harmonics of the pencil barrel minis seem to really prefer having weight on the barrel.........not so sure about newer 581s

plus....have you fired a mini? mine is a 196 series...

thing shoots fireballs. even a brake will help reduce some flash

It does make a difference in quick follow-up shots especially in timed shooting competition. But you are right in that there is no punishing recoil at all from the .223.

Mossy Man is correct. I have a Mo-Reaper on mine. I have a 581 series.. if I had an older one, I might have gotten a cheaper one that just goes over the front sight. I'm still happy with my purchase as the Mo-Reaper has a better front sight than the factory.
