    Source for 7.62X39 AR parts?

Looking to build or assemble a 7.62X39 AR for plinking and whacking jugs of water, etc. I've got a few other AR's, but not one in this caliber.

I've searched and there seems to be a bit of a challenge finding magazines that reliably feed and some other parts. Anyone have a good source(s) for these?

Any advice from those of you who have built or assembled one and learned some lessons?

Rifle Gear has their lowers on sale for $99, so I may go pick up two or three, using one for this build and tossing the others in the safe for future fun builds.

My intent is to just use Russian surplus, steel cased ammo with this as I have quite a lot of it.

Anyone have experience with these and know of upper/lower/magazine/ammo combinations that run reliably?

I have a bushmaster upper setup for shooting russian steel case. Had to get an enhanced firing pin from galati and a wolff extra power hammer spring to set off the hard primers. The only mags that seem to work ok are cproducts and ASC mags. As for ammo I always have fiocchi stocked and out of all the steel case silver bear runs the best FOR me.

AR15 Performance makes the best bolts for it. I would buy an extra no matter who you get it from though. This is simply because most people that have problems with these say they have had the bolt break. I have not had any problems, regardless of what I run through mine. Well, not with the bolt, anyway.

As for magazines, track down the guys that took over C Products. They make a good 10 rounder. They also make a good 30 rounder, but they don't sell kits here. I will try to find out what my other magazines are and post it on here later.

(edit) The other poster got the name for me. ASC. HEre is a link to their 7.62x39 magazines:
We provide a large selection of magazines for nearly ALL AR-15 calibers. Our products are backed by years of experience designing AR-15 magazines.

Built mine a couple months ago. Spikes lower/lpk and a 16" upper from Galati Intl. Bought 10/30 c products mags from the gun show and a few ASC mags(same thing) from Galati. Galati sells the enhanced firing pin and extra power springs. I have not tried true surplus ammo yet but I can shoot the steal stuff all day(haven't installed the XP spring yet). Was very happy with Galati- the only issue I have is with my lowers pins walking themselves out but Galati's upper(M1S) has worked pefectly

Galati's 20" A2 is in stock- I got mine in like 4 days... Very happy http://www.galatiinternational.com/p...MDB762PRC.html

Just a word of advice- if the 20" is an option I would jump on it. You may see other sites that have it "in stock" but ask them what their processing/back order times are...

Guys, what is the accuracy of AR 7.62? Is it more like AR or AK? I would like to add AR type to my Saiga. My concern was a cost of having ammo of different calibers. For unknown reason I never thought about building AR 7.62. It looks really interesting.

Try www.44mag.com for x39 mags, and they will sell 30-rounders as kits.
