Where's your pin that fits in the safety selector groove? I put on a Hogue grip and when i took off my old grip mine came flying out..had to reach around in the carpet to find it

Are you sure you have the grip screwed tightly to the reciever?

I've heard about these grips having problems with .308 ars. You can try sticking something in the hole to prop up the spring. Just make sure you can get it out

Drop a BB from a BB gun down the hole... maybe two, I think the spring will ride nicely on the BB and give the detent a little more pressure. It did sound like the detent may have fallen out though.

I had a similar issue, but my issue was the hole on the MIAD grip was to deep and safety wouldn't engage. I fixed it by putting a piece of round wood down the spring hole and works like a charm. Your problem sound like the hole is not deep enough and when you tighten the screw down, it's putting too much tension. Try sticking down something down the spring hole of the grip that works fine, then measure with some calipers, then compare it to the MIAD grip.

Do you have a working grip for your AR10? If so compare how the spring sets inside of the grip with the MIAD.

It almost sounds like the hole for the spring isn't deep enough. OR the grip screw is too long and making contact with the FCG when screwed in all the way.

Maybe cut half or a full coil off the detent spring?

but once I go from fire to safe then back again it is loose and flops all over the place.

And when you disassemble it the detent and spring are in their normal positions?

Take the trigger group out and you should get a better view of what is happening at the selector.

ar-10 grip

On some of the .308 AR's.The bolt that come with the pistol grip is too long and hits bottom of trigger.Use a extra washer on the pistol grip bolt .I did that on a couple of my .308 Ar's.
