Go read all the other threads on this topic. I'd suggest any widely recommended manufacturer, something with a 1 in 7 or 1 in 8 twist will shoot any weight and size bullet you will ever need. Obamamania II is getting off to a strong start so expect longer wait times and higher prices. I personally think RRA builds some great uppers, and I also like AR15 performance. You can find nicer stuff, but you will spend a lot more for it. to me those two manufacturers represent a very good quality upper with a reasonable investment.

Thanks i have read and re-read posts on here any my head is spinning that's why i started this post. i am looking for something in stock and i can order now.

i have read the multi page post on is delton any good and there was no conclusive answer.

people dont like M4 rifles because of gassing problems? and why on all these websites everything else is sold out besides the M4 profile uppers.

PSA has 3 or 4 uppers including the rifle kit available so not sure which one to get.

and on a riflegear versus BCM thread... people say they like riflegear uppers.

I haven't read much about people not liking M4 uppers, Go with what you like. Rifle gear has good upper using from what I understand DD parts. palmetto has nice uppers and you can get most with the BCG and the rifle kits coming complete with everything but a stripper lower and the lower parts kits aren't bad.

Honestly, you might not like this, but my recommendation is this:

Determine your needs, what you are going to be using the rifle for, schedule of fire, distances most often shot at, actual purpose (hunting, paper punching, carbine classes, etc etc)

Then determine what rifle, or collection of parts best suit your needs and then buy it/them, regardless of whether its available right now or not, and don't give in to impatience. Be patient and keep your eyes open for when parts come available and or come on sale and be ready to grab them up.

Good advise. Impatience in building an AR right now can lead to. A. a rifle you don't like when finished. B. a rifle that won't do what you want for the type of shooting you do. C. wasted money.

Took me two years to build mine, I'm actually kind of thankful that it took me so long, as I changed my mind from one FF rail to the Troy, plus it allowed me to finalize on the surefire MB, was torn between it and the AAC.

Of course now that BCM has come out with that new grip I may pick one up to see if the ergonomics of it are better than the MOE that I have, pretty cheap part to play with and that could have pretty big changes in comfort. But either way, those are the kind of parts that if I decided to sell one or the other, they both would keep a high resale value.
