Best buget centerfire bolt gun w/ scope?

I am looking for a centerfire bolt gun for $100-200. I would like to add a scope, so if it comes with one thats a plus. I looked at mosins already, but I want to hear what other rifles people know something about.

You won't get much for that price. If you buy a Mosin at Big 5 you'll be well over $100 just for the gun with DROS, tax fees, etc.

Are you willing to spend a few more $$$? For $400 or so you can be the Savage "package gun" (commonly sold at Big 5) that comes with a bore-sighted 3X9 scope. I got one at a WalMart (outside of CA) some years back in .243 and it shoots great.

I bought a Savage bolt .17 HMR w/scope package for a couple hundred bucks and it shoots like a champ! I like the Savage rifle/scope combinations and wouldn't hesitate to buy one in a larger caliber.

I would look at the mossberg 100ATR. It can be bought with a 3-9 scope for around $300 if you shop around.

I thought my Savage Axis .308 was a good price at $350. I have a hard time believing you can get anything for $100-$200 that would be worth shooting.

Whatever you do, stay clear of the Remington 770 - it is a total POS. I thought people were exaggerating until a friend bought one and we took it out. Ugh, it is a terrible firearm

In that price range the Mosin would work, putting a scope on would be an added expense with limited upside. Scout scope or drill & tap, bolt handle modification etc. I think Mosin's are best left original. By the time you sporterize it jumps to entry level bolt actions and resale on one of those is not good. $300-$400 puts you into MarlinX7's, Savage Axis. I bought the Marlin due to its better trigger, very nice rifle for the money.

Even used is pretty unrealistic for anything worth a crap at $100-$200. The OP would be better off just waiting a couple months and saving up at least another $200.

I saw several used bolt guns in various calibers with scopes mounted for $300 +/- AND a 25% discount at wild bills in elk grove. This was over a month ago so I dont know if they are still having the sale.

Pretty beat up stocks and finishes, but I bet it would outshoot a mosin any day. Didn't take a close look so I cant tell you what brands or models they were.

If you're willing to save up a little the Howa M1500 is a good pick; smooth action, many different caliber choices, ~$70 worth of Hogue stock, and decent factory bore-sighted scope...all for about $400 if you can wait for Turner's to have a sale.
