Hi guys, I've been reading a lot about the ar's you guys are building and they are nice! I used to have a preban ar a long time ago but sold it. Now I want an AR again, but refuse to drop $1,000 for a kali legal neutered AR (like the CA legal bushmaster). I see that you guys are using "OLL". My question is do you guys just part the AR's together from scratch? Or do you buy a neutered AR with a sealed magwell (Like the bushmaster) and change out the lower? When you change out the lower with an oll is it now an ar that has a detatchable magazine and is cali legal? And lastly, where can you buy the oll's? Thanks in advance.

Buy one of those and all the parts to go along with it (including mag lock/mmg) and put together a really fun lego set

So these are parts I would be adding to an exsiting ar right? Like if I were to buy a neutered bushmaster cali legal ar with a sealed magwell, I can just buy this lower for detacheable mags? If I did this set up, is it legal? Would i then have to register it as an AW? Sorry, building ar's is new to me.http://www.tenpercentfirearms.com/in...roducts_id=283

No, build from the ground up. Buy a stripped lower like the one I linked to and end up with an AR like the ones we are building. Basically you need a lower, upper, lower parts kit, 10 round mag and depending on if you go MMG grip or Buller button mag lock. You will need either an A2 stock or a collapsable stock. You may also need to remove the flash hider and replace with a muzzle brake/thread protector. So these are parts I would be adding to an exsiting ar right? Im in so cal. Let me ask for your opinions. Do you think the gun laws in cali well ever get better? Should i just save my money and wait it out and hope that one day the gun laws here will get better and get a real aw? Or should I just buy whatever I can (i.e the neutured cali legal bushmaster) before the laws get worse? I remember back in the good ol' days when you could walk into a turners outdoorsman and buy a mak 90, aug steyr or real AR.Comment

Read through the linked threads above. It will clarify what features constitue an AW. Once you're clear on everything, then buy an OLL from one of the many vendors we have here and have them ship it to your nearest OLL friendly FFL http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...ad.php?t=63050Comment

Buy now and alter if the laws change. Get an OLL and build into a complete rifle with a Bullet Button. If you still have some of your pre-ban mags then build a featureless build.
I think it depends on how the case before the supreme court goes to see if Cali laws will change.Comment

Thanks for all the good info guys. I was at a local gun shop in orange and they were selling some used ar-15's on consignment where they had the mags locked. I guess so they can "legally" sell themTI asked around and was told these weapons were really "grey area" and an overzealous DA will try to prosecute if I by one and am caught with it. So it turned me off on obtaining another AR. Thanks for all the good info guys.Comment

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself...A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."......CiceroComment

lol that's where I was! I saw some nice used ar-15's on consingment. I was seriously considering buying one that was $1090.00. The guy that had it on consignment happened to be standing there when I was looking at it. He said all they to be able to "legally" sell it was lock the mag with an allan screw, and if I bought it, all I had to do was undo that and it will take mags. I asked around and got scared out of buying it. People were telling me that although the mags were locked in by a screw, the doj did not write a letter of approval for that weapon, and if I got caught with it, I could be in some trouble. So I went and bought a mini 30. I was also considering the kel tec su16 but still have a passion for the ar's and am thinking about saving up for one.Comment
