That's still not very specific. If you are near Sac Yolo County Sportmen has a 1000yd range, but I think you would have to go to an event or with someone who is allowed to use it, maybe Pathfnder will chime in.Originally posted by ADDICTEDto.223LOWERSthanks maybe i should have specified im from the norcalIf it was a snake, it would have bit me.

Yes, there is a 1000 yard range located in Sloughhouse, headed up by the Folsom Shooting Club. Most of the time you will need to go to one of the competetive events to shoot past 200 yards, but there are club members who use the line on Tuesdays occasionally.
It's a top notch facility.

actually you'll need to start learning to read the wind at 300 with a .223'Just Don't Point, Squint, and Laugh! '

where in Norcal are you? How close to Sacramento? Sac Valley has a 300 yard range available to non members. You have to "qualify" on the 100 yard range first, and then they'll give you a card so you can use the 300 yard range anytime you come (nobody laugh. you'd be surprised how many people can't hit squat at 300 yards and shoot the target frames to pieces).
They also have the 500 meter silhouette range (NO FMJ or MAGNUMS ALLOWED) which is available to members. A member can bring a guest or 2 with them onto the silhouette range.
The 1000 yard range is available only to members, who have shot in a qualifying match and been signed off by the match director, or to people (non members & members) who are actually shooting in a long range match.
If you have never shot past 200 yards I STRONGLY suggest you work your way up. It can be very difficult to tell where your shots went if you miss paper at 300 yards and beyond. If you can't tell / don't have a spotter along you are just wasting ammo and time, and possibly being a danger to other people.
If you want more info about Sac Valley you can't find on the website feel free to email me.Rob Thomas - Match Director NCPPRC Tactical Long Range Match

The longest range at Yolo is 100 yds. I've been amember for five years, and wish they did have a 200 and 300 yd line.Originally posted by rkt88edmoThat's still not very specific.
