I bought one of these a week back in 762x54R from Atlantic. I will see it in person today as I just got the email saying its being delivered. I DID need a bullet button as mine is the Dragonov style with thumbhole in the stock.
Also, here is Atlantics California legal page...all of the stuff here they will ship to us. Keep in mind the bullet button for rifles is about $50 extra, and I had to add it seperately to my cart. http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/storecategory94.aspx

I even like the non thumbhole stock version. I would consider one of those for sure and avoid the BB entirely!

Hunter vs. Super? Accuracy? Any other difference in performance?

i like seeing more rifles in the 7.62.54r caliber maybe more non corrosive ammo will be made.

This is the one I'd want in 7.62x54r

I'm almost glad its over 1k so I don't get tempted to buy.

I really want one now. Anyway of getting one here in Ca. Does anyone make a bullet button for this? Or, new monte carlo style stock? Any suggestions?

Anybody have one? I would love to know how they shoot.
Your best bet is to use a middle man FFL transfer(Dealer out of state that will receive the Super Vepr). The out of state FFL will receive the Super Vepr from Atlantic and will then remove the Super Vepr stock and ship the barreled receiver to your CA FFL and the thumbhole stock to you. Then send the stock to Solar Tactical to make a custom kydex plug or wrap for the thumbhole kind of like this:

Only other alternatives would be to fill in the thumbhole yourself or remove/cut the ambi mag release and fabricating a custom bullet button. A member here custom filled his .308 Rob Arms imported Vepr and it looked great. I'll try to post his pic so you get an idea....Looks like this made by CG member 69Mach1:
