    Quick questions..

Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and just had a couple questions. I have been debating this question with a friend and would appreciate any help. My friend has a mini 30 he bought about 8 years ago. He put a pistol grip and collapsible stock on it when he bought it. This is before the aw ban. My question is does he have to convert it back to stock ( how it came from the manufacturer) or does he can he leave it as is since he did all this before the ban? My second question is, who does the NRA endorse as a presidential candidate? Thanks in advance for the help guys.

to my knowledge i think he needs to convert it back to stock unless registered as an assault weapon.

Thanks for the reply. Let's say if, and I know this is a BIG if! The aw ban expires, and theres a brief period before the ban is reinstated can he just go to a local ffl and have it registered as an aw? How would that work? He said that mini is his shtf weapon, and he doesnt want the factory stock on it so he will just disassemble the pistol grip and telescoping stock off the rifle and leave it in pieces. So technically its a rifle thats in pieces and not assembled.

You may be thinking of the Federal AWB while it might have expired the California AWCA did not it was only mostly implemented in 2000 with SB23 unless your talking about Roberti Roos http://ag.ca.gov/firearms/dwcl/12275.php
or the Kasler list as they happened alot earlier.

This link should help you understand.

Oh ok. I was under the impression that the ban is good for 10 years, then it has to be reinstated.

That's the federal ban,it's toast but the California assault weapons laws are in full force.

If he takes the folder and pistol grip off, it's no problem keeping them. Tell him to shoot it with the factory stock on it but keep the other one if he wants it.

Thanks for the reply. He has the stock where the telescoping stock can come off the rifle and the pistol grip can be removed. so he's gonna leave the rifle like it is minus the telescoping stock and pistol grip (so its technically an uassembled rifle). He has another mini thats has the original set up he uses to shoot. So the kalifornia ban does not expire unless someone in congress choses to lift it?

                    Congress is federal.

The state legislature would have to change the California law or a court would have to rule the law unconstitutional.

That will happen about the same time that monkeys fly out of my butt.

                          Translated into english:

The rifle (with stock folded or removed) must be over 30" long.
If it's under 30" and not registered as an assault weapon with the state, it's a big sick bird (illegal).
