    LR shooting instructor

Looking for an instructor to teach this blank piece of paper. Everything from equipment selection to the mechanics of shooting. Hopefully the instructor works out of Sac Valley Shooting Center but I am willing to travel for a quality instructor.

Any recommendations would be greatly welcomed.

    Thanks

if you are a "blank piece of paper", I'd hook up with someone (I'm sure the guys at Sac Valley have a "basics" course) to learn from the beginning - starting with safe handling, storage, transport.

I guess what I'm saying is I bet you could find all sorts of resources (for free or close to it) to help you with the basics. There is a lot of good info you could read online.

What do you want to learn to do? Punch paper? Hunt? If yes, what kind(s) of game? Competition? What disciplines?

If you just want to learn the basics of shooting, I'd start with a .22. They are inexpensive and you can shoot hundreds of rounds without taxing yourself much physically.

Of course - other people will give you different advice.

Welcome to the shooting sports. You've already learned the most important thing - don't be afraid to ask questions!

Thanks for for taking it easy on the newbie here. I appreciate your reply. My experience is with handguns only. I play in some IDPA but really find myself not doing it for the time or score but to enjoy the experience and find what things threw me and why. I am not looking to compete or hunt in LR shooting. Instead, I want to only do this for me. Kind of a techno zen thing. I would like to go 100, 200, 300, to the big 1K yards if possible. I rather go one on one than get in a class so I can take extra time with some of the concepts I will find more difficult. I hope this info helped and I should have explained it more in my first post.
