650 will almost get you there on a decent AR.

Around ~500 for a decent upper, ~150 for lower.

You would still need a bullet button/prince50, lower parts kit, mag and buttstock. ~200

Oh, and ammo and cleaning kit.

Or, like Ghost says...wait for a used one to come along.

I have had a great experience with Model1Sales.com...
Some people however, have not (mostly with customer service).
I have over 1,500 rds through one of them, with no ftf or any other issues, using wolf ammo.

Their AR kits come complete with everything you need to assemble a working AR except the mag lock kit and lower receiver. Prices start at $460 plus shipping. A lower receiver will cost about $99 (Stag or DoubleStar) plus dros fees.

I offer this only to entice you to get into the AR. If you plan on getting serious with it; however, you may want to save up some money and do some more homework to figure out what you really want. It is addicting, and can get pretty expensive......so beware and Good Luck!

Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants. They serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."

Check used here and on arf. You get what you pay for. If you keep your eyes peeled and get lucky, you can get a good plinker for ~500. You may have to put the upper together, but it can be done.
