    WASR 10 newbie

Getting a WASR 10 soon, and I have a couple of questions (and boy have I searched).

I will be doing a BB on this, am I still OK putting on a slant flash hider? Is what comes on the gun welded, or like an AR, can I just unscrew it off?

I am trying to find a PG (the cheap ones) or possibly a wood one... will they all fit the WASR?

    Thanks!

The slant brake is a muzzle brake, not a flash hider, so it's okay on a fixed mag rifle. My buddy's WASR10 had a thread protector tack welded on. About 10 seconds with a dremel should be able to remove it so you can put the brake on.

The best bet is to go "featureless" - then put on a MMG (Monster Man Grip).

The slant brake is just a brake - not a flash hider. And the normal stock on the WASR10 is not a folding (or collapsing) stock, and there's no forward pistol grip. So you wouldn't have any "evil" features.

The nice thing about going featureless is that you can use detachable magazines, and if you were lucky enough to acquire 30 round AK mags before the ban, those are perfectly legal to use (if it's a fixed mag rifle, then you can only use 10 round magazines).

Here's what an AK with a MMG looks like:

Yes - I still gotta put my wood MMG on my Romy!

Got another wood MMG that I'm going to stain red to match a new red Romy that I am building. . .

          +1 for MMG's and +1000 for wood AK MMG's!

Thanks. Its funny, everyone said that they wanted wood AK mmg's, but I have them now and they aren't selling too well. Oh well. That may be the last of them. Limited production of 100 grips.

They are so much better than the plastic grips. They are so solid on the rifle. No wiggle at all. Plus no trimming or adapters to make it fit. You do have to stain it though. I guess if that is what is intimidating people, they could just paint it black.

              Blackbok,
Basically, you've got two options A) To go the Bullet Button route you will need to order :
              1) A bullet button : http://www.riflegear.com/p-268-raddl...-with-key.aspx or http://www.coldwarshooters.net/index...roducts_id=362
              2). AK pistol grip http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?I...1-4dbdf2c1a0eb
3). AK Grip Screw and Bushing : http://www.tapco.com/proddesc.aspx?I...4-37695988b70b

or Option B). Get yourself a MMG w/AK adapter: http://www.riflegear.com/p-241-monsterman-grip-ak.aspx
or you could ask Uncle Monsterman to sell you one of his superb laminated wood Monsterman grips (which would compliment the laminated wood stocks fitted standard on the WASR-10. Job done.

If you are adding a slant brake onto your WASR-10, make sure it is U.S. made one, to be safe, as you don't want to be adding extra imported parts to your rifle, since the WASR-10 contains the minimum required U.S. made parts fitted to make it 922(r) compliant, therefore importable.

Life can make you do many things, even kiss a man with a runny nose.

how delicious! I just ordered this grip for the AK build I'm working on. As soon as the next build party gets going. Now, I've go to figure out what to do with the forward pistol grip from my parts kit...

Anybody have ideas, other than ordering from Ironwood designs?
