help installing ak bullet button :(

    hello everyone,

just grabbed one of jjperls bullet buttons and im having some trouble installing it

what do the instructions mean by...
NOTE: before you take this step secure release lever by lightly wedging a screwdriver or equivalent under lever where it contacts the magazine to prevent it from moving the pin in punched partially out.

also, how the hell do i remove the pin? the edges are peened out so im having a hell of a time with a punch

im lost lol... i do not want to goof up and end up fooling around more than i should as the release is under a bit of tension from the spring

any help would be greatly appreciated

    many thanks!!!

Can't help with the bullet button installation. As for the release lever pin, I simply used a BFH to pound away at it. It'll move eventually.

Mine was peened so heavily, I had to partially drill it out, then I wedged a piece of semi hard rubber (cut a piece of thick floor mat) vs. a screw driver so I would not mar the finish...

I was just about ready to drive the pin out while driving the new bolt in, then pop, the lever spring popped out.... BE careful not to let the spring pop out, it is almost impossible to get it back on unless you know how to..

I'll second this. I fiddled with the spring for 3 hours until I finally got it back in correctly.

lol... i ended up doing it the hardway

hammered the crap out of it till the pin finally gave... wow it was heavily peened

everything came apart... the spring was "fun" to put back along with the lever and bb. took me about 30min and 2 cigarettes

          thanks everyone!!!

I had trouble with this as well.

Try drilling into the pin a bit, it makes things a lot easier (i.e. not impossible).

Use a dremel and grind off one of the sides that is peened, then push that side thru with the new bolt.
