    AR15 Weapon Light Suggestion Needed

    Hello,
I am looking for a weapon light for my ar15 for an upcoming rifle/carbine training course. I want to get something that is decent, that is a buy once and hopefully be ruged and last a while. I don't mind spending a few dollars for a quality item, but if something could be had for cheaper $ then that would be an added plus.

Also I would love to be able to get something in AA battery, however if all the quality/functional lights are in CR123 then that wouldn't be a deal breaker.

Lastly... if you have a mount to suggest, go right ahead.

    Thank you.

If you're willing to spend the cash, an X300 or Scout light would be my first choices. The marketplace seems to have quite a bit of X300's in the $175-$200 range, probably in anticipation of the newer models.

A few other options are a G2 in a Viking Tactics mount for $75.

A G2 (led) and VTAC mount is $108.

Or a VTAC mount and L4 surefire for $184.

I've actually settled on a Fenix TK11 with Gear sector mount. momentary on/off, 258 lumens, CR123 batteries. The two downsides to me are that it's a little heavy, and it's made in china. It's now been through 3 carbine classes, and flat out works. I've done other numerous low-light / night shoots and its a great setup.

You will get 100 different responses from 100 different people, but these are a few options to get you started.

    Sincerely,

      Novatac SPL120

comes with a mount, is lightweight, has strobe setting/low&high settings - does use the CR123
120lumins... can be found on ebay for around $120 for a complete package with pressure switch and IR filter.

you don't rise to the occasion,
you just fall back on your level of training.

Look up Lumaforce. They make great weapons lights!

how are you mounting it and how are you planning to activate it when needed will point you to the right directions.

the closer to the front of the barrel you mount the light less barrel shadow you will get.

I'm a big fan of anything Fenix, my TK10 has been on my 12ga for a few hundred rounds with no problems yet. Surefire is great, but I don't see the jump in quality as being worth 3x the price of a Fenix.

I just mounted an Inforce WML white led/IR on my DDM4V1 in front of the sight on the omega 12" rail.. It may not be the brightest flashlight out there but i think its the best small, lightweight, light solution out there.

I've got a Surefire X300 and it is very good.

I replaced it with a Viking Tactics L4 (which is basically a Surefire E2DL with a KX2C single output head). I like the L4 a lot. It is simple, bright, and rugged. There are no wires (unless you want them).

I don't like any flashlight that has multiple outputs or modes for a weaponlight. Unless they can be locked into a single mode, I'd worry about the light switching modes under recoil. That is why Surefire came up with the KX2C single output head for their E2DL.

                    L4 is a badass light!

I agree with the last part - the Novatac has a safety feature that automatically puts the light in it's default setting (high output) if you accidentally press the button a bunch of times or if you exit out of any of the other settings

+1 on Ebay I'd only buy from a top rated seller though

I just bought a surefire 600c and a IWS thorntail mount and I love it. What's great about surefire besides being tough as nails and lots of accessory enhancements is a no BS warranty and the ability to change out the heads.

The 2nd poster has it. VTAC mount with a Surfire flashlight and you can't go wrong!
