        I never liked my SU-16CA.

Like many I bought it before I knew about OLLs but that wasnt the point. I would have kept it if I had liked it.

Some of the Pros for me were:
        1.Took AR mags
        2. No doubt about legality
        3. could fit it in a backpack
        4. Accurate for the money

        Cons
        1. Made of all plastic, gave a real cheap feel to it.
        2. Jammed all the time (even with the best of ammos, an AR extractor and cleaned and lubed perfectly)
        3. Lack of accessories.
        4. Could be bent side to side due to cheap plastic used
        5. Difficult to reassemble (putting the bolt carrier group back in was always a task even though I knew exactly how to do it.

The thing that really made me mad was the lack of reliabilty. And I know it wasnt just my rifle either. My friend who bought one from a different store, differnet batch, at a different time had the same jamming problems I did. I then looked on the kel tec forums and everyone there was having problems with theirs. my friend even sent his back to kel tec who said they would fix the problem and when it returned it still jammed every 5 rounds.

The problem for me was the fact that I bought it on a whim, like most people, after seeing it for the first time at a gun shop with out doing any research. My discovery and purchase of OLLs later on did not influence my decision to sell mine.

The fact that I could not depend on it to go bang every time i pulled the trigger was pretty much the main reason I sold it. Even though I eventually finally found a good ammo/magazine/extractor/elevation from sea level that would allow it to fire without a hiccup one time, it seamed like an aweful lot to do to make something work that should have done so right out of the box.

        I would suggest against buying a SU-16.

I did not say that I was one of those people, but there certainly are people out there like that.

Now i want more uppers or an AK. I bought it because i was admittedly ignorant about the OLL situation. I wanted something with a detachable magazine that had the look of a evil black rifle. If i knew the whole bullet button situation i would have probably never bought it. That being said, someone breaks in to my house tonight im going for the kel tec. (under 21 so no pistol for me yet)

EDIT: Oh and for how many are currently out there i dont think there is THAT many people trying to sell used ones now.
There is usually at least one for sale on the classifieds. I noticed two other arms frequently for sale besides C&Rs: SIG Mosquito and the Walther G22.

Comparing SU-16s to ARs is like comparing apples to kangaroos. They are totally different rifles. I think the problems arise from people wanting an AR and buying a SU instead. I have both and they both function well for their intended purposes. I will say that I only have 1 SU and 8 AR based weapons.

i picked up my su-16 about 3-4 months before the OLL craze.

right now, it sits in the safe as a primary defense rifle that could easily accept mags without legal worries.

but the other 2 OLLs sit next to it with empty locked mags...

Good point. I have kept my SU16-A and SU16-CA, bought them, even in the face of my already owning several pre-Roberti Roos/pre-SB23 ARs and other rifles, as well as numerous OLL/OLR rifles, both AR and other. I prefer the ARs and others, but see no need to sell my SU-16s merely because there are wholly different, the reason I keep them.

I have never had a single FTF or jam from either of my SU-16s, ever. And no, I have NOT upgraded to the Bushmaster extractor, though I keep meaning to do so. Each of my SU-16s has approximately 700 rounds through them. Sure, that's not a lot, but should have been enough to have experienced a jam or FTF at least once. In all, they have actually ran better than most ARs I've shot. I will say this: I have never used the stock Kel-tec mags, have only used USGI AR mags, and only the SU16-A has had some steel-case/ Wolf through it for about the first 50 rounds - then saw the advice to not run steel-case/Wolf through them.

I'm keeping them. They're fun, reliable, and convenient. Great in the trunk. But most of all, I don't NEED to sell them.
                      .

Keltec has much better warrantee and customer sevice than Ruger. In fact, Ruger won't even sell a Mini14 firing pin to a gunsmith! Keltec will send you almost any part you need for free! Of course, now we are once again comparing apples to kangaroos but now we're adding garter belts to the mix.
