    Just pulled the trigger

.... On an AR build. Picked up a Daniel Defense 14.5" barrel with a Battlecomp compensator thanks to Riflegear.com. They'll do the gunsmithing on the barrel for you before shipping, pretty cool! I plan on picking up a Daniel Defense quad rail, Vltor upper, and T15BDX lower. I'm pretty new to the AR world but have been doing A TON of research. One question I have, is does anyone know what type of buffer tube I need for the lower? I've looked around a bunch and cant seem to find if it takes a mil-spec or commercial. Any tips are greatly appreciated.

Buffer tube depends on the stock. If the stock in Mi, then Mil tube, Commercial stock, commercial tube. The type of tube needed is usually mentioned in the product info for the stock your looking at. In other words, if the stock says commercial, then you'll need a commercial tube. The diameter is slightly different between the two. The threads, i believe, are the same between the two.

Some stocks have inserts so you can go between commercial and Mil tube but generally you pick the tube first then pick the stock to fit. good luck

Get a Carbine tube, milspec. Then any milspec stock will fit. I read somewhere that the milspec receiver extension (buffer tube) has a thicker wall thickness(what?) than commercial which = stronger

very nice and welcome! as for the buffer, as stated in the posts above me, the buffer depends on the stock itself. milspec stock=milspec buffer and commercial stock= commercial buffer
